Have you noticed that children love snacks more than their meals? And its more often than not a packet of crisps. What we parents can do is, make nutritious and tasty short-eats at home which the kids will love. This momos can be had as a 4 'o' clock snack or can be sent as a break time snack to school... or Yes, it makes a wonderful breakfast too!!!!
To Make 8 momos:
Maida/All purpose Flour: 1 cup (230 ml cup)
Boiling water: 1 cup
(don't pour all at once, see how much is needed)
Salt: as required.
Mix the salt in the flour.
Pour the hot water in to the flour and mix properly with a spoon.
When you feel you can handle the mix, make a pliable dough like for rotis.
Keep it aside.
For the filling:
Onion: 1 medium diced
Green Chilly: 2.5 tbsp (adjust to your tolerance level, we like it hot)
Ginger and Garlic: 2 tsp each
Chicken boiled with salt and pepper: 4 tbsp
(Here Ive used frozen boiled chicken)
Heat oil in a kadai. Throw in the onions, ginger, garlic and green chilly and saute for 2 minutes on low flame.
Now add the chicken, required salt and saute till the onions turn slightly brown.
Turn off the stove. Your filling is ready!!!
Now make small balls of the dough, flatten it a little bit and place filling and seal the edges (again like a ball or a semi circle- the shape is up to you as long as you make sure the edges are sealed)
Place the prepared momos in an idly cooker/steaming dish and cook for 15 minutes on medium flame.
Serve with tomato sauce.
hey! nice blog :) following you and looking forward to some great recipes!
